Since it reemerged as a Chinese low-cost brand, MG has had a bit of a “hit and miss” record. The MG 6 was its first vehicle and a bit of a disaster in a market that was rapidly contracting. You shouldn’t spend too much attention on the MG HS PHEV’s official 155.8mpg WLTP fuel economy figure, as you shouldn’t with most plug-in hybrids. The 32-mile electric range, however, is what you should focus on. Even though more expensive competitors like the Ford Kuga and Toyota RAV4 can travel further, that is a sizable distance to cover solely on electric power.
Interior
The front seats have some reasonable adjustments, but even at their lowest position, you still sit fairly high. Only the top-spec MG HS Exclusive models have electric seat adjustment, but unless you frequently switch drivers, this is unlikely to be a problem. Every model in the range comes standard with adjustable lumbar support, which lessens lower back pain during lengthy commutes.
The MG HS is impressive in terms of interior design. Turbine air vents that resemble Mercedes-Benz models are included, and clever little toggle buttons that are tucked away on the center console can be used to control the climate.
